The Waikato Heart Charitable Trust
Since May 1976 The Waikato Heart Trust has played a pivotal role in the development of Heart Services for the Mid North Island region of New Zealand.
From an initial fund of $167,000 raised by Lions Clubs, and a public appeal in 1997 which raised $600,000, the trust has committed $2.3m to equipment, training and research.
The Waikato Heart Trust believes that the Government and District Health Board's have the principal responsibility for providing modern heart services for the people of the Waikato region.
New and exciting heart treatments and diagnostic procedures are constantly being developed, but Government action, particularly in the field of new heart treatments, tends to be slow.
The Trust sees its role as acting as a catalyst to speed up the process of providing the most up-to-date heart diagnostic and treatment capabilities for the people of the Mid North Island Region.
The Waikato Heart Trust is an incorporated charitable trust which is registered as an authorised charitable organisation with the New Zealand Charities Commission (No CC24597).
